Organization & Structure
The TUM Center for Quantum Engineering (ZQE) is an interdisciplinary central institute (Zentralinstitut) of the Technical University of Munich, located at the Garching research campus. It operates under the responsibility of the TUM Board of Management and bundles the university's research in quantum science and quantum technologies across the disciplines of physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, and electrical & information engineering.
Governance
The ZQE has four bodies:
- Directorate — The center is led collegially by a directorate of up to three scientific directors drawn from the disciplines represented at the ZQE. The founding directorate consists of Prof. Christian Pfleiderer (Executive Director), Prof. Eva Maria Weig (Deputy) and Prof. Christian Back. The directorate defines the center's research priorities and strategic direction.
- Managing Office — A managing director supports day-to-day operations, coordinating administrative, financial and legal matters and acting as the interface to TUM's central administration.
- Members' Assembly — Meeting about twice a year, it ensures that all members can contribute to the center's decisions.
- Scientific Advisory Board — Up to six international experts advise the ZQE on its research and innovation strategy and contribute to quality assurance and evaluation.
Members
The scientific work of the ZQE is carried out by its members — professors and research groups from four disciplines: Physics, Chemistry, Electrical & Information Engineering, and Informatics.
